Dinosaurs and Man Roamed The Earth Together

ChristiaNet.com, a large Christian portal with eight million monthly page loads, recently asked, "Did dinosaurs roam the earth at the same time as man?" President of ChristiaNet, Bill Cooper, stated, "God made the world and all its inhabitants in six days, and on the seventh day, He rested."

Out of 1,400 Christians surveyed, half or 50% believed that dinosaurs and man coexisted. They believed that God created all things in six days and this included dinosaurs, "Archaeology shows that man and dinosaurs lived together." Others cited Genesis 1:21 as their reason for belief, "And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the water brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good." Some in this group referred to the book of Job chapter 40, "Nothing but a dinosaur has a tail like a cedar tree."

Twenty-seven percent of those surveyed disagreed with the first group and did not believe that man and dinosaurs roamed the earth together. Reasons stated were, "Dinosaurs died 60 million years ago, man was not around until 6,000 years ago", and "There has been no evidence found that they coexisted. Instead all the evidence has pointed in the opposite direction." Others in this group felt that man was created in the image of God, "God made the dinosaurs and everything else that was alive at the time that He made them extinct, then He created man in His image to rule over the new animals that He created." Until further evidence can prove otherwise, this group does not believe that they lived together.

Twenty-three percent of Christians surveyed were unsure about whether or not dinosaurs roamed at the same time as man. A majority of people in this group found conflicting evidence among leading evolutionary and Biblical scientists, "I have seen evidence that supports both theories, so I can't decide." Others stated that they have, "never seen any reference to this claim in the Bible." Most in this group, however, just responded with a comment like, "I don't know and I don't care. It would be impossible to find out anyway."

To help educate Christians, ChristiaNet has just released a free Creationism Quiz. Using the latest interactive technology, one can test their Biblical knowledge on issues facing the Christian Community.
