Christians Are Concerned About The Economy

ChristiaNet.com, a large Christian portal with eight million monthly page loads, recently asked, "Are you concerned about the economy?" President of ChristiaNet, Bill Cooper, stated, "The state of the economy is in a constant state of fluctuation depending on the decisions of our leaders and citizens, not only in our country but around the world."

Out of 700 Christians surveyed, 75% of them confided that they were concerned about the state of the economy. Some said, "The unemployment rate is too high. People need jobs to earn the money that they need to survive." Others stated, "Every financial decision a Christian makes should be a spiritual one and that includes whether or not to spend money on certain luxuries." Survey takers in this category were especially concerned with the political ramifications affecting the economy, "Every time we vote in a different candidate, it takes years to rebalance the economy because of bi-partisanship."

Twenty-one percent of those who participated in the poll were not concerned about the economy because, "The Bible says that we should not worry about such fleeting things in life as money, let the economy worry about itself and let us worry about our own attitudes of love towards one another." Another poll taker in this category said, "My treasures are laid up for me in Heaven, not here on earth." Most believe that God is the one who takes care of us versus the economy.

Four percent of pollers were unsure about their responses. Reasons cited included, "I am slightly concerned as I do think that the economy is going to change in the last days. However I live in Spain and because it's part of the EU I believe we are in a different position than the USA at the moment" and, "I'm definitely concerned...but there is nothing I can do about it...All of the plans that the politicians have put forth so far are a smoke screen to fool the American people." Many that were unsure about their responses felt that, "We should be able to protect ourselves as we are the consumers."
