Miss California Should Represent Christians
|
ChristiaNet.com, the world's largest Christian portal with nine million monthly page loads, recently asked, "Should Miss California represent Christians?" President of ChristiaNet, Bill Cooper, stated, "All Christians have made mistakes; however, the Great Commission requires all Christians to represent Christ."
Out of 1,400 Christians surveyed, 59% said that they felt it was okay for Miss California to represent Christians. One reason included, "She has the courage to speak out on Christian values such as marriage is only between a man and a woman." Another in agreement stated, "She is much bolder in her faith than some celebrity pastors who bow to politically correct opinions." Many who answered this survey realized the mistakes in her past. As one poller stated, "We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, but now she is standing up for the Christian faith."
Twenty-seven percent of those who took the poll were against Miss California representing Christians. One poll taker commented, "Her appearing in such contests is not a good example of a Christian lifestyle." Another in disagreement added, "I applaud her for standing up for traditional marriage; however, that one issue does not make someone a Christian." Many in this category did not approve because, "The photos of her are not Christian-like and therefore she is not a good Christian role model."
Fourteen percent polled were unsure on the matter. One reason given was, "I like that she took a stand on an issue, but where does she stand on other Christian issues." Another unsure survey taker responded, "She stood up for a biblical truth which all Christians should be doing. I personally did not appreciate her immodest apparel but perhaps she has not reached spiritual maturity." Even pollers that had opinions still were unsure, "It depends on if she is truly a Christian and if she will always stand up for the Christian worldview in public."
To help educate Christians on the topic of Christian living, ChristiaNet has just released a free Christian Living Quiz. Using the latest interactive technology, one can test their Biblical knowledge on issues facing the Christian community. |
