Abortion Should Be A Political Issue, a large Christian portal with eight million monthly page loads, recently asked, "Should abortion be a political issue?" President of ChristiaNet, Bill Cooper, stated, "Political issues should be issues that affect our citizens; abortion is something that affects our citizens."

Out of 1,600 Christians surveyed 58% stated that they believed abortion to be a political issue. "Abortion is murder and the government has every right to make laws to stop it," was one poll takers response. Another poller stated, "Abortion is a Justice Issue... Politics without a moral fabric aborts True Justice." Some in this category compared the definitions of life already in place in the law books, "We say a person is still alive when their brain has no activity and they cannot live without a machine, but that a child isn't really a child until it is out of the womb and capable of breathing on its own?"

Thirty-six percent of those who took the survey did not feel that the issue of abortion should be political, "The separation of church and state should be upheld in all religious matters." One survey taker responded with, "Sometimes there are circumstances in which an abortion would be the right choice, such as proof of a severely deformed baby or in the cases of rape and incest." Most in this category, however, felt that, "God has given us the free will to make our own decisions when it comes to choosing good or evil. The government should extend the rights of free will to the people by not interfering. Only God can judge us for our actions."

Six percent of poll takers were unsure about whether or not political involvement in the abortion issue was okay, "I am not sure about the laws of this nation and how far the government can interfere with the choices of the people." Another unsure poller stated, "I think it really depends on the circumstances and the timing of the pregnancy. I definitely think that the government should limit abortions to extreme cases." Still, one poller in this category was unsure because, "Abortion shouldn't be an should be illegal, end of discussion."
