Most Christians Have Been Baptized, a large Christian portal with eight million monthly page loads, recently asked, "Have you been baptized since your salvation?" President of ChristiaNet, Bill Cooper, stated, "It is important for all believers to be baptized."

Out of 1,500 Christians surveyed, a whopping 84% stated that they had completed the process and been baptized by a Christian in front of witnesses. One saved individual said, "I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was thirteen and was studying God's Word. Then I obeyed His word by getting baptized." Another Christian that had been baptized confirmed, "I found the answer from the Bible. Then some time after that I was sitting in a church I had never been before. There I heard God telling me that today is the day you need to get baptized." Some in this category quoted Matthew Chapter 28, "Make disciples, baptize and teach them."

Fourteen percent of those surveyed admitted they had not been baptized since salvation. One poller said the reason was, "Because I wasn't saved until I WAS baptized." Many in this category felt that their salvation was linked to their baptism while others in this category had already been baptized as babies and did not feel the need to be washed of their sins again, "I was baptized as a baby and even though I didn't understand why then, I do now so there is no reason to do it again." Another poll taker in this category stated, "I have kids and have wanted to wait till we can be baptized as a family. To me it is only an outward sign of the inward efforts."

Two percent of poll takers were unsure about whether or not they were baptized after receiving salvation. Most respondents claimed they were, "baptized as a baby, not after my salvation," or were not, "baptized with water in the traditional way." One survey taker stated that, "The Lord Jesus Christ has always been in my life and I accept Him as my Lord and Salvation."
